Chelsea vs Man United to get a score prediction for Premier League fixture

Manchester United travel to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon in United's first Premier League game since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's sacking, so we simulated the game to get a score prediction.

Manchester United faces a tough trip to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon in their first Premier League game since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's departure.

United has reached an agreement in principle with Lokomotiv Moscow for Ralf Rangnick to become United's new interim manager on a six-month contract, but Sunday's clash with Chelsea will come too early for Rangnick to take control, meaning Michael Carrick will continue to manage the Reds.

Carrick oversaw United claim their spot in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League after their 2-0 win over Villareal on Tuesday evening.

Unfortunately for United, their clash against top of the league Chelsea has been made even tougher with their current injury situation, with three of their usual back four potentially missing for Sunday.

Raphael Varane is confirmed to be out injured once again whilst Harry Maguire is suspended after his red card against Watford last week, and Luke Shaw is doubtful after missing United's midweek game.

Edinson Cavani is set to miss out with injury again along with Paul Pogba who is out until the new year, and Mason Greenwood is set to be missing after recently testing positive for Covid-19.

So, what line-up will Carrick select? And, what could the final score be?

We used FIFA 22 to get a score prediction for Chelsea vs United on Sunday and this is what happened...

Chelsea vs United score predicted by FIFA 22 simulation

We used kick-off mode in FIFA 22, but didn't select a team to control, we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a score prediction.

We predict that Chelsea could set up in a 3-4-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Mendy; Chalobah, Silva, Rudiger; James, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho, Alonso; Mount, Havertz, Hudson-Odoi.

We also predict that United could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Bailly, Telles; McTominay, Fred, van de Beek; Sancho, Ronaldo, Rashford.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek, in for the absent Kante, was playing in an advanced role for the Blues, and his late run in-behind the United backline saw the midfielder send a strike into the top corner, but he was judged to be offside.

The first half continued in the same manner until the half-time break, where United went in without even having a shot.

Chelsea continued pushing forward in the second half, and they eventually found their goal with 10 minutes remaining from the bench.

Lukaku was thrown on by Tuchel with 15 minutes remaining, and with almost his first touch, he put the home side ahead with a thunderous first-time shot into the top corner.

The goal was deserved — and expected, with United failing to create any major chances all game. But the game wasn't over yet.

Bruno Fernandes was brought on early in the second half, and his addition was a major boost for United, with the Portuguese setting up Sancho for a last-minute equalizer.

The midfielder won possession on the edge of Chelsea's box and was closed down by four Chelsea defenders, leaving Sancho completely unmarked in the box for Fernandes to play in on goal, and the winger smashed his effort past Mendy at the near post.

FIFA 22 predicts that United could snatch a point at Stamford Bridge in the dying moments of the game, with Jadon Sancho grabbing the late equalizer to cancel out Romelu Lukaku's opener in what could be a valuable point for Carrick's side.
